Hypocrite Of The Week

Well, what do you know? Illegal immigration is the new gay marriage. All this illegal immigration crap coming from the conservative right at the moment has seemed awfully loud and constant. It appears that Bush and his cronies are determined to make illegal immigration the new wedge issue to help bring back some of their conservative base that they've lost in recent public opinion polls.

Well surprise, surprise. Guess who's grandparents may have been illegal immigrants themselves? That's right, the one major Bush appointee of Latin heritage, US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, may be a descendent of grandparents that came into the country illegally. He says it's "unclear" that they were illegal, which means in Bush Denial Speak, that of course they were illegal. Read about it here Think Progress and here America Blog.

Now, I haven't heard much from Gonzales regarding this issue, probably because he doesn't want to look bad to the Hispanic community while defending Bush and his idiot ideas, but since he's the Attorney General and it is his job to enforce the laws of this country, he's as responsible as anybody in this administration for it's wrong headed approach to this issue. As long as he is a representative of Bush, then he is the face of Bush's immigration policy. And whadya know? He wouldn't even be here in this country and be the highest level Hispanic American official in US history, if his grandparents hadn't wanted to come to America and risked life and limb to get here by illegal means.

As long as he is a part of an administration that is using immigrants as a wedge issue to gain votes and continues his very questionable reign as the legal defender of this country, he will always be thought of as an Uncle Tom. So here's to you, Alberto. You're JM's Hypocrite Of The Week.

"Senator, it's 'unclear' whether I am the world's biggest hypocrite."
